When I’m on set, I’ve noticed how every great actor or actress I’ve worked with has come from theatre. In the same way I feel like my news background gave me a strong background to jump in to other facets of media, I really believe if you can do theatre, you can do anything in film and TV land. You grow chops. You memorize page after page of dialogue, find specific moments, handle props– all with no safety net of multiple takes and directors calling “Cut” and letting you go again. I’ve learned so much from working on stage applying accents, building a character’s physicality and look etc.
Playwright John Patrick Shanley is quoted as saying, “Theatre is a safe place to do the unsafe things that need to be done.” Yes, yes indeed. Below are some shots from some plays I’ve worked on:

With Minh Ly (Fringe, Alcatraz) as estranged siblings Carol and Bobbie in Edward Allan Baker’s North of Providence.
With Loretta Walsh (Life Unexpected, Chaos) in Theresa Rebeck’s Spike Heels. She played Lydia, I was cast as Georgie, the Boston girl from the wrong side of the tracks.
As choreographer, Anna, in Lanford Wilson’s Burn This. Set in Manhattan, Anna is grieving the loss of her best friend, Robbie, a talented dancer who’s just been killed.
